To characterize the electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) of integrated circuits (ICs), especially radiated emissions in near field, transversal cell (TEM cell) or IC-stripline measurements (IEC 61967) are utilized. Due to ongoing miniaturization and increasing operating frequencies, accurate EMC characterization ICs is becoming more important achieve first-time-right designs. In order avoid expensive redesigns, prediction these terms a simulation workflow would be high interest. Because computational burden needed conduct 3D full-wave finite element (FEM) simulations both device under test (DUT) measurement system, an equivalent representation DUT by means analytical incident fields, such as Hertzian dipole moments, can considered. develop order-reduced model this kind, it essential have solid understanding coupling wave propagation effects inside systems. present paper, fundamental investigation paths between electric magnetic moments presented results compared existing models. The show that models, originally developed for TEM cells, only partially valid IC-striplines. It has also been shown even simple structures, loop monopole antennas, one single moment insufficient.
